OF NURSING AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH STAFF TO GIVE PROPER CARE OR TO WATCH EACH OTHER TO AVOID ABUSE AND NEGLECT. ALSO THESE NURSING HOMES ARE TAKING IN ANYONE WITH A WARM BODY AND A CHECK. IT IS SO DISGUSTING THAT IT HAS TURNED ALL INTO A MONEY THING AND NOT TAKING CARE OF HUMAN BEINGS THAT NEED CARE NOW. I CAN'T GET THROUGH TO ANYONE WHO COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE OTHER STAFF LIES ABOUT HAVING SUPPLIES AND BEING ABLE TO GET TO THEM WHICH IS LIES BUT SEEMS NO ONE CARES. AND THE ABUSE IS OUTRAGIOUS BUT NO ONE WANTS TO BELIEVE THAT EITHER. MAKES ME SICK AND UNEMPLOYED I HAD TO QUIT.

Re: Families, advocate speak out at Albert Lea town hall meeting

Is the 'the' Mandy from Albert Lea, who lived in Gettysburg in the early 90's? Where do you think this money eventually comes from?? THE PATIENTS!!! Through higher cost of care and or reduction of staff. Some of the fines imposed are rediculous!!!! Undeserved is another term that comes to mind. These facilities are not out to hurt harm or neglect their residents but as in real life bad things can happen! Mistakes can be made. Just where does this fine money go? It certainly doesn't benifit the residents of these facilities. Big salaries are paid to deskbound fat cats to sit and make up laws that will continue to fund new chairs for them to sit on their asses and make up more laws to buy themselves new chairs. Instead of fines fund education and grants for improving the quality of life for our loved ones!!!!

Re: Crisan says innocent in case of nude photos of nursing home residents

well my bf says if this is true and after seeing her picture he wants to rent a room at waddel in fact every man he knows wants to be in that nursing home...

Re: Virginia women take nude photos of nursing home residents

well if your not quilty I would smile too

Re: Assisted living employee fired for verbal abuse

Thank you so much for your comment! We appreciate your sharing your
thoughts about the creation of mental health guidelines for patients in
nursing home care. This certainly is a situation that is extremely
important, not only for those who currently are living in a nursing or
rehabilitation facility, but for all of us who may one day need these
services. Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this
conversation!

Sincerely,
Wendi Lewis
Beasley Allen

Re: Assisted living employee fired for verbal abuse

From the information I have gathered it appears we need stronger mental health guidelines in assisted living facitlies that are not mental facilities just regular assisted living facilities. We only have State Regulations. No Federal Guidelines at all. I am researching now to see if we need Federal Guidelines or what avenue to go to be an active advocate of assisted living facilities and mental health guidelines. I have been a resident of an assisted living faciliities for 8 years and very much know we need strong guidelines to govern the mentally ill who mental and abuse, verbally other residents too often. Some throw things and hit. Unfortunately I came to Golden Living Center for"rehab" after breaking my leg and arm around January 24,2009. The injuries required extensive surgery and I was in great pain. My worst nighmare occurred after coming to this hell hole. I have all the daily and nightly abuse written down that I suffered and I plan on getting a lawyer as soon as possible. I stayed four days and wound up in the ER due to injuries, on my last night there. Golden Living Center is not equipped to handle a seriously injured patient who can speak and complain and divulge their neglect. I feel sorry for the impaired senior residents who can not speak for themselves. They need a guardian angel to watch over them, and while not all the staff is bad, there is only a few who do their job. I know one thing, when it comes time to send the bill out, they are prompt and right on time. They'll be waiting a while for the last 200.00 dollars. If it was up to me they wouldn't get a dime. I hope some of the lawyers, ombudsmen, judges, doctors and nurses will never suffer as I did, but if they ever do I think they would change their tune real fast, after being on the other side of the bed. Like I said I will be contacting an attorney soon and the whole story will come out. I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy.

Re: Physical therapist charged with unlicensed practice, forgery

Our senior citizens in nursing homes must be protected from abuse and unprofessional conduct by staff.
Dr.David Black
www.blackchiropractic.com.au

Re: Nursing home resident dies after fall down steps

Why are there not gates on the stair cases. But it is often less visible simply because the abuse may always take place in private. The victim of verbal abuse lives in a gradually more confusing realm. In public, the victim is with one person. While in private, the abuser may become a completely different person.

Re: Advocacy group wants more control over caregiver training

I think Ms. Snyder is spot on with her desire to have caregivers trained properly by a group that understands the unique challenges of elederly and disabled care.
